A Table Talk topic for one of the heaviest and most universal human experiences.

Depression is one of the heaviest topics a Table Talk can take on. It's also one of the most universal, touching roughly one in five adults at some point in their lives. A discussion on depression is not a substitute for clinical care. It's a space where people can be honest about what they or someone they love is carrying, and find that they're not alone.
Why Depression Belongs at the Table
Depression is one of the most isolating experiences a human being can have. It often goes unspoken, because the depressed person assumes no one understands, or doesn't want to be a burden. A Table Talk on depression breaks the silence in a healthy way: it acknowledges the reality without trying to fix it, and it offers what people in pain almost never receive, to be heard.
A Note for Hosts
This topic should not be facilitated by anyone untrained in pastoral care. If you don't feel equipped, table this topic for a future Table Talk or invite a trained co-host. Always have local mental health resources on hand and point participants to professional help whenever needed.
